I can't say enough about getting your children out of public schools. Our grandchildren are homeschooled. When our grandson was 10 he started teaching himself calculus and read his 1st Shakespeare. He definitely explores all types of study and has dissected a frog. He also goes to a homeschool center and takes some classes from retired professors. He is also learning Latin. You don't have to be an expert in everything because the resources are abundant. Parents frequently get together and pay for a teacher to instruct a group of children. Children in a home environment don't need an 8 hour instructional day and parents have many options to allow them to play with others. As a teacher, I chose to work with children in the hospital. I taught one year in a public HS. I loved teaching them, but couldn't tolerate the administration.
